You suddenly might wonder that you need a new type of kitchen sink to remodel your kitchen. Often people are mostly looking for the countertops, backsplash, or cabinets attached with a kitchen sink but there are other factors too that must be looked at. When you are buying any kitchen sink there are two most important issues that come into question. The material of the kitchen sink and the exact use you would put it to.

Now, everyone knows that a kitchen sink is used for mostly washing utensils, rinsing vegetables, and so on.

In this article, we will be focusing on some of the sink types and their uses.

Materials Of Kitchen Sinks

Here we will be having a look at four different types of materials that are used the most for kitchen sinks. These are the types:

Stainless Steel

The use of stainless steel as sink materials is the most common practice. You would generally find these to be in the commercial kitchens or even in a household kitchen. It is medium weight and has good durability qualities too. Stainless steel is a one-time investment. You can be worry-free as this type of sink will not rust and will not get damaged easily.

These types of kitchen sinks are more affordable and have other qualities about them as well such as being heat resistant, and stain-resistant. Of course, it can have a bit larger basin, but these are generally the larger sink types you will see.

Stainless Steel

Cast Iron

This is the second most common material that is used to make a sink. Being made from cast iron it has an enamel coating on top which is more cast-iron heat fused with powdered glass. This prevents these types of kitchen sinks from rusting. Cast iron sinks are heavy and thus you need to have rimmed type support below.

Installation in smaller kitchens can be a challenge too. The reason it is the second option is that it can get damaged if not maintained properly. The porcelain layer coat on this type of sink when not handled properly can have cracks.

Composite Sinks

You must have seen the composite sinks for they are highly common on houses. These are made from granite or quartz which is again used with a filler element to ensure it has a shinier look while also being exceptionally durable to heat and weight.

Maintenance for the composite kitchen sinks is not a problem either but stains can appear and then it becomes tough to clean. The only way to wash the dirty-looking stains is by way of an acid wash. You would not see any signs of scratch for decades as it maintains its glossy look. These sinks are among the costliest.

Types of Kitchen Sink

Fire Clay Sinks

These are the ceramic clay sinks that are made using ceramic and clay and then heated at the right temperature. They are no doubt highly heat resistant and durable as well. Like the composite kitchen sinks, these can also cost you more as you go for a higher and often exported type ceramic variant.

It no doubt offers a very pleasing and ascetic look to your kitchen and if you have the budget, you should go ahead with it.

Having a dual configuration kitchen sink type can help you to wash and rinse vegetables and fruits for example on one sink while washing utensils on the other. Check out some of the common kitchen sink types before finalizing the details.
